Round Two, Week One T25

Here it is - week one of my second round of Focus T25 is done.  Kind of.

This is the schedule as it is supposed to look.

My schedule looked a bit more like Monday-Wednesday were perfect, Thursday and Friday didn't happen.  Am I happy with this?  No.  Do I want to admit to it?  No.  Do I wish I could say I had a perfect week?  Yes.

But life got in the way and had me struggling to keep up.  Early in the week I found out a very good friend from college unexpectedly passed away.  This started the week out on a stressful note but I used that stress as fuel for the workouts.  Then later in the weekend I started coming down with a cold and just couldn't kick it.  Exhaustion set in and although I started my workout on Thursday, it was very clear in just a couple minutes that finishing the workout was not going to happen and, truthfully, it's a good thing I didn't push myself.  I was too tired to get through it and pushing myself that far would have just been the wrong decision.

Friday was much the same and the weekend saw me at a hotel with my family, swimming, playing games and eating food I normally would not eat.  So all that added up to a gain of one pound this week.  Is it awesome?  No.  Is it the end of the world?  No.

Earlier today a challenger in one of my challenge groups posted this quote and it really has stuck with me:

"Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the

quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again

tomorrow!"

This was what I needed to hear and this is what I'm focusing on!  If you haven't had the greatest week, month or even year of workouts so far tell yourself that it is OK - but that you will do better starting now!  If you need extra help, I'm here to help you!  I have struggled, succeeded, momentarily failed and come back again - I have been up, down and all around the road to weight loss and I have found a tried and true system that works!  All it takes is support, dedication and a killer meal and workout plan - Beachbody has all that!

I'd love to hear how your story is going if you're willing to share!

Clean Eating Fish Packs

Now let me tell you something - I love to cook.  I also love to eat.  I also love to read, workout, blog, hang out with friends, watch Jimmy Fallon with my husband, clean the house (okay maybe not this one but it does have to get done) and go to bed at a decent hour.  Trust me, you don't wanna be around me if I haven't had enough sleep - I become a bit emotionally unstable.

Easy Healthy Fish Recipe

What does any of this have to do with Clean Eating Fish Packs??  Well this is a new recipe that Jake and I tried out and wowza!!!  It's easy, cheap, yummy, clean, healthy ANNNND super fast to make.  That's honestly all I ask for in a meal.  (Unless, of course, someone else is making it.  Then it can be as time-consuming as they want.  But I still encourage speed!)  Making this recipe gives me enough time to do MORE of the other things I love to do besides cook, eat and clean!  It has found its way into our meal plan pretty often since we tried it out - and I think it'll stay there!

Easy Healthy Tilapia Recipe

The original recipe we made came from the "Hungry Girl to the Max" cookbook and I'm so glad we tried it out!  To be honest, though, it gave us a great starting point but we have altered the recipe (but just a bit).  In the original recipe it says to put lemon slices on the fish while cooking it.  For me this a) made it a bit too lemony and b) was annoying to slice the lemon and have to dig out the seeds (or eat them unknowlingly!)
So we took their recipe and ran with it - and it's been great!  If you are looking for a cookbook, this is a great one to get - we have tried several recipes already and have enjoyed them for the most part - it's a win!

Anywho - here's how you make it!  The recipe below is for one fish pack - but of course it's simple to double!  You'll just end up with two packs - one for you, one to share (if you want to, that is...)

Easy Tilapia Recipe

I'd love to hear your thoughts if you try this recipe out!

Focus T25: Round Two Goals and Meal Plan

Yesterday I wrote about my experiences, successes and thought with Beachbody & Shaun T's program Focus T25.  It got me to 60 pounds of weight loss and it was a lot of fun.  So much fun, in fact, that I decided to give it another go!  So yesterday I started my second round of Focus T25!

You might be asking - what exactly is Focus T25?  Well let me tell ya!  Focus T25 (just T25 for short) is a workout program designed by Shaun T.

Shaun T

T25 is broken into two segments: Alpha and Beta with an add-on Gamma segment for after you've completed the first two cycles.  I have not yet done Gamma, but my plan is to re-do Alpha & Beta rounds and move onto Gamma then.  Each workout is only 25 minutes a day.  There are no longer or shorter workouts - they're all 25 minutes (makes it much easier to plan!)  On the fifth day of your workout week (often Friday, though not always) you have a 'double day'.  This day has you do two workouts.  Many times people will break a double day into two separate days.  So, instead of a 5 day workout week you have a 6 day week.  It is non-stop movement through the 25 minutes, but just when you're getting to the point of breaking you look at the clock and there are less than 10 minutes left!  I love the speed of the workouts and I love that they are able to really kick my butt in such a short amount of time!

I'm a big fan of Shaun T programs and this one is no exception!  Now that I have completed one round of it I am even more excited to jump into it - though my goals have changed a bit this time!

Focus T25 Round Two

Now that I know how the program works, what the workouts are like and that I CAN do it, I will be focusing on my meal planning for the time through.  I feel like my meals kept me from getting even more results the last time, and I am determined to make them happen this time around!

The last week of Beta round I stuck 100% to my meal plan, I spoke to my husband about how important it is to me and I drank plenty of water each day.  I truly think that all these things helped me finish the program at an awesome place - as well as start the second round at a great place!

Here is my meal plan for the first week as well as the first week's workout schedule:
Focus T25 Meal Plan

I haven't yet tried all of these recipes, but when I do I will be sure to do a blog post and share the good ones with you!  As you can see, my breakfast, afternoon snack and after-dinner snack don't change much.  I'm a creature of habit and it makes it much easier for me if I don't have to think too much about what I'm going to be eating - then I don't reach for the things I shouldn't be!

Each meal has a mix of complex carbs and protein so they help my body kick start its metabolism as well as keeping it going for a long time after I'm done eating.  This is the base of Clean Eating and it is what makes it such a great way to meal plan!

T25 Alpha Week One Calendar

I can't wait to see what my results will be after this second time through!  I am using the "after" pictures and measurements that I shared yesterday for my "before" pictures for this round - they were only taken 2 days ago, after all :)

Have you done T25?  Have you thought about it?  If you have any questions about the program, Shakeology or about being in my next challenge group, please let me know - that's what I'm here for!

Focus T25 - Woman's Results

Well as of yesterday I have done it!!!  I have completed my second Shaun T program (the first being Insanity, which I finished a year ago).  I am feeling a ton of different things about this program and the results I saw - I hardly know where to start!

T25 Woman's Results
Might as well start with a selfie, right??
For those who don't know, Focus T25 is a Beachbody program that was just released this past summer.  It gives awesome results without requiring a lot of time!  Whereas some programs have 45 minute, 60 minute or longer workouts, T25 only has 25 minutes that you have to dedicate.  It is a non-stop workout for those 25 minutes, but it's great to get done so quickly!  I know for me, and a lot of others, it is difficult to schedule out an hour or more for a workout somedays.  But 25 minutes anyone can do!  (Fridays can either be a double day of two 25 minute workouts, making it a 5-day a week program, or you can extend the double day out to Saturday and make it a 6-day a week program.)  Every week I decided how I would do that depending on my schedule - I like the flexibility!

While doing Focus T25 I got stronger than I ever have been (seriously, you should see my push-ups - I've never been able to do them so well before!) I also hit a lot of goals and saw numbers on the scale that I haven't seen for years!  I fell in love with the program which made it easy to stick to it.  Was I perfect?  No.  Will I ever be?  No.  Am I proud of what I did?  Absolutely!

Now, for those numbers...

Focus T25 Results

Focus T25 Alpha + Beta is a 10 week program, and I have to say that being down 10 pounds in 10 weeks is nothing to be ashamed of!!  The fact that I am also down over 9 inches around my body makes me ecstatic!!!

I honestly cannot tell you the last time that I was in the 180s - but here I am!  When I started on my weight loss journey I was at 249 pounds and being in the 100s seemed like an impossible dream.  But through the support of challenge groups, the incredible Beachbody programs and replacing one meal a day with Shakeology I can honestly say that I have not only transformed my body, I have transformed my life as well!

When I first started on the path to losing weight, my coach asked me to take pictures and send them to her - and I dreaded it.  I did it, but I hated them. H.A.T.E.D. them.  I sent them and hid them on my computer.  Now I will show them to anyone who wants to see them - because I'm PROUD of the progress I have made!  Do I have a supermodel body?  No.  Are there things I'd still like to change?  Yes.  Am I happy with where I am because I know the work it took to get here?  You can bet your butt I am!

T25 Results

In these pictures I can see a difference!  Granted, 10 pounds  isn't going to completely change what I look like.  But I can see that my tummy is not sticking out nearly as far as it was, my back flab under my bra is almost gone and my shoulders are more well-defined.  All of these things I am HAPPY with!!!

When I saw my ending weight after this first round of Focus T25 I seriously did a happy dance right then and there!   In my journey, weighing 189 does not just represent 10 pounds lost with Focus T25.  It also represents a total of 60 pounds lost.  60!  Imagine a stick of butter.  Now imagine 240 of them.  That is how much weight 60 pounds is!  That is CRAZY to me!!!

Here I am from those very first pictures that I hated to today...

Beachbody Results

I wasn't planning on putting these pictures side-by-side, but after mentioning that first group of pictures I was curious to see the change - and I can honestly say that I can't even believe that I had been that size!!!  I couldn't help but tear up when I thought of how PROUD I am of her for making the decision to start, even though she was nervous. scared. ashamed. embarrassed. doubtful.

Starting tomorrow I will be re-starting Focus T25 over again to see what else I can get out of this program!  Alpha, Beta and then I'll be doing Gamma for the first time - I'm pumped!!!

If you have been thinking about getting in shape but are afraid, nervous, doubtful or anything else, please let me know!  I would love to help you get started and share your journey with you.  If I hadn't taken that leap of faith I know I wouldn't be where I am today - what a difference a year can make!

Are you ready to see YOUR after picture?

Comment below with your email address or contact me through the program in the bottom right of this screen - I can't wait to hear from you!

We Can Have it All

I sat down to write this post and I'll be honest - I am drawing a blank! I am trying to share my thoughts, my words, my opinions and my feelings about what the Beachbody coaching opportunity has done for me and there is simply too much to type into one blog. I could go on for days!

Being a Beachbody coach has been the most exciting, rewarding and feel-good thing I have ever done. Although I have enjoyed my various places of employment and was a big fan of school, I never before have felt as personally enriched as I do with this business. To be a part of helping others is incredible - to be able to share their journey in getting healthy and celebrate their successes with them is the biggest joy!

The Dreamers and Doers

Being a Beachbody coach isn't about sales. It isn't about numbers, quotas or how much you can sell. To be a coach we do not have to be in perfect shape, we don't have to go door-to-door trying to sell things, heck we don't even have to change out of our sweatpants while working if we don't feel like it! It's not about being the best and it's not about vying for a promotion.

It is about helping people. It is about making the journey easier and more rewarding for our friends and family. It is about being there to support, encourage and motivate those around us. It is about putting our best foot forward, and knowing that if we ever falter we have a team of other coaches who are there to help! It is about creating friendships, living dreams and then dreaming bigger.

Help Other People

The crazy thing is that we get paid to coach! We earn a second (or even first and only!) income by helping people live their dreams and hit their goals. The more we are able to pay it forward, the more successful we are - financially and otherwise!

Imagine how your life could be changed and improved if you could remove one financial obligation - and then maybe two or three more! I can help you get there and I can teach you how to make a living off of helping people! Success CAN be yours - are you ready for it?

Beachbody Coaching

If you are ready and open to creating a business that is based on helping people improve their lives while also improving your own, fill out the application below!  I will get back to you as soon as possible (definitely within 24 hours!) to chat about the opportunity and how it could work for you!

Focus T25 Beta Meal Plan Week Five

Nine weeks, one day down and only four more to go until I will have completed the entire first ten weeks of Focus T25!!  Sunday afternoon I took a little bit of time and created my meal plan for this week.  I have big goals of seeing 180 pop up on the scale, and as much as T25 gives awesome results, what I eat will have just as big, if not an even larger, impact on the results I see.

Lose Weight in the Kitchen

As I go into starting T25 over again I will be putting more focus on my meal plan since I already know to workouts, am familiar with the moves and am used to the workout schedule.  The other day at work I got a new cookbook, Hungry Girl to the Max, and I will be trying out some of those recipes to incorporate into my meal plan.

I'm a big fan of leftovers as well as using simple, quick and cheap recipes.  As much as I love to cook, I'll be very honest in saying that if a recipe has several items that I don't have, I'm probably going to flip past it and find a different one.  All the recipes I chose for this meal plan look tasty (but I'll tell you my opinion on them after I've made them!) and have simple ingredients.

Healthy Eating

As my husband Jake looked at the meal plan he reminded me of something I overlooked - Lent is here!  So that means the chicken taquitos I was planning for Friday will not really work.  My solution is just to do a flip-flop.  The taquitos will be for Thursday, the tilapia and veggies will be for Friday.  Presto-chango done!

Here is the meal plan I've made for this week:

Focus T25 Meal Plan

I'm pretty darn excited about the food I have on here!!  Some are new recipes, some are old standbys, and they are all yummy!  You'll notice that my afternoon snack is a mini Shakeology.  This is just a half-glass of Shakeology that I'm having a bit before I workout to get me energized and ready to kick butt!  It's simple, tasty and of course really healthy!

What do you think of my meal planning, or just meal planning in general?  Anyone on here that you'd like to try?

Focus T25 Beta Week 4 Results - and where do I go next?

Today I start the last week of Focus T25 Beta round.  I have completed the entire 5 weeks of Alpha round along with 4 weeks of Beta round and now I am set to be done with it completely!  There is a third round, Gamma round, but I'm going to put that one off for another 2.5 months.  Not because I need a break from T25 or that I'm getting discouraged with not seeing results.  I don't want to move to a different trainer and I'm not switching gears.  Instead, I am so impressed by and so excited with the results I have seen so far with Focus T25, I'm doing it again!

This time, though, it's going to be different.

This time I have already done the workouts once through so I will be able to give 100% of my focus to doing them better rather than learning them.
This time I no longer have a second job on Wednesday nights, so I won't be tempted to change the schedule around to give myself a rest day on Wednesday.

This time I will be documenting the week's changes every week on this blog.  I have been posting about my results every week during this first go-round, but for the second go-round I will be sharing numbers, stats, pictures and my thoughts on each day.  I am dedicating myself to this task and I am excited to get started!
I will, every week, be sharing my meal plan that I create for that week.  And I will be sticking to the meal plan!

Before I can do that, though, I have one week left to get through.  I have made it to my lowest weight yet (192.0) thanks to Focus T25 and over the next 11 weeks my goal is to get to 180.  This number, to me, is something that I set out to hit a long time ago.  I can honestly say that when I first set this goal I didn't think it was realistic.  I was 249 pounds and being under 200 seemed like a pipe dream, let alone being 20 pounds below 200.

I have made it this far, though, and I am determined to continue!  I am proud of myself for the fact that I lost this weight in a healthy, hard-working and fun way.  I didn't eat too little and I didn't work out too often.  I didn't lose 5 pounds a week and I didn't get down on myself when I had a bad week.  I joined a support group and I have continually been in one since I started.  I have hit goals I may not have believed were possible.  I made the impossible possible.

I'm not saying all this to tell you how awesome I am, though it may sounds like it.  I am writing all this down because I am proud and I am excited.  It has been a lot of hard work but I want to make it known that if I can do it so can you!  It won't always be easy and it won't always be pretty - but it will be worth it.

I am starting a new health & fitness support group on April 1 and I would love to have you in it.  Together we will map out a plan to make your goals a reality - and then we will map out new plans for the next phase!  If you are interested in learning more about how I can help you get not only in the best physical shape of your life, but also in the best emotional shape (we're talking a positive attitude, optimism, pride and energy!!!) comment below or email me directly at ashleykrek@gmail.com.

For me, one more week of Focus T25 Beta - then it all starts over :)

St Patrick's Day is a'coming!

Does anyone else think it's kind of strange for St Patrick's Day to be on a Monday?  I realize that it is not one of those holidays that always falls on a specific day of the week, but it really just seems like it should fall on the weekend.  I am about 0% Irish but I am still a fan of the festivities that surround the holiday - who couldn't be?

I have had a couple epic St Patrick's Days in my past but this year it's going to be a little bit different!  This past August I decided to go for a year without drinking alcohol, so this year my St Patrick's Day will include no whiskey, Guinness or any other type of beer.  (I will admit, it will be a bi strange to not partake in any alcohol consumption in celebration of the holiday, but I am looking forward to remembering the whole night!)
In honor of past St Patrick's Days, I thought I'd go on a little walk down memory lane to some of my most memorable celebrations!

College: Senior Year: 2009

5 years ago (I can't believe it's been that long!) I was a senior in college and celebrating my last college St Patrick's Day!  I started the day with my favorite girlfriends, beers and eggs.  It was a great way to start the day!  A bit later in the day one of my roommates and I got a ride to school with a fellow student and we raided some extra tshirts he had from a wrestling team he coached.  (Surprisingly enough, I am wearing that same exact yellow shirt as I write this post!  The neck has been cut out, the writing had faded to almost nothing and the shirt is definitely thinner and more stretched out than it was - but it's comfy!)  We spent the rest of the night playing beer pong, (with beer in the cups, naturally.  Who wants to clean up that beer mess?) avoiding homework and discusing whether we'd actually make it to class in the morning.  I have no recollection if we made it there or not - but I do know that those shamrock ears were pretty awesome!

Junior Year - 2004 - Scotland

This one, I'll admit, is too bad for pictures.  This was during my semester abroad and two of my friends and I decided to visit other students who were studying in Ireland.  We spent a week exploring Scotland and Ireland and it was an incredible way to spend St Patrick's Day - I am so glad to have had the chance to be there for it!  Although we weren't actually in Ireland, I figure we were close enough to get a pretty good indication of what it might be like :)

Our St Patrick's Day included the following:
 - Going to Loch Ness in the morning
- Getting back to the hostel in time to get ready, split some beers and head downtown
- Carry said beers around while we waited for the bars to open
- Go to one bar for the majority of the evening - we got to be a part of an Irish dance crowd - they do things I couldn't do to save my life!
- Meet an English man wearing a Mexican sombrero while drinking an Irish beer.  He was a man of many places!
- Get yelled at by the bouncers at the next bar that we would simply not make it in because they were too crowded so it was time for us to go
- Make our way back to our hostel where we continued to dance and drink.
- The next morning while one of us nursed a hangover (not me) the other two of us decided it would be a great idea to go wandering around downtown looking for a haircut and food.  This ended up being a much bigger ordeal that we planned for.  But, at the end of the day, it was worth the endless stories and jokes we have from that day :)

This St Patrick's Day will be quite a bit different!  On Monday I will be going to work - woot woot!  This weekend I will be finishing my second to last week of Focus T25 Beta, going to a book-buying party and then book club on Saturday morning and then hosting my parents for dinner!  It will be quite tame but quite lovely!

What are your plans for St Patrick's Day?  Will they be mellow or crazy?

3.13.2014

April Fool or April Fit?

Today is March 13.  A month from now it will be April.  After April comes May and by the time we realize it's May it's going to be June.  That's right, folks.  In less than 3 months it will be JUNE!!!

This means summer weather, summer clothes, the beach, swimsuits, shorts and tank tops!  No more covering up in layers (it'll be too darn hot!) and no more hiding in the house at night because it's dark by 4 o'clock.  Nope, summer is almost here!

Baseball games, bonfires, pool parties and the always-fun chore of mowing the lawn!

Last year at this time I had just started in a Beachbody challenge group as a participant.  I was not a coach, I was not anywhere near my goal weight and I was dreading summer.  The shorts I had in my dresser were definitely not going to fit and I didn't want to go shopping for new, bigger clothes.  So, I joined a group and I didn't look back.  I stuck to the program, drank the Shakeology, and fell in love with all of it.

A year of weight loss in selfies!
I believe in challenge groups.  Not because someone told me about them and not because I read about it - I believe in them because I took a chance and tried one out!  I haven't regretted the change for one day of the last year.  Today I sit at well below 200 pounds (when you start at 249 seeing 19-anything on the scale is an AWESOME feeling!)  Not only that, I'm chasing more health and fitness goals.  I haven't stopped improving, but I can now help other people by being a coach.

So today I am opening up my next challenge group - I want to help YOU create your dream 'after' picture!  This group will be starting on April 1st and run for 60 days.  That's right, it'll be done just in time for June!

Imagine a summer where you feel confident and incredible rocking those shorts you've been wanting to wear but haven't feel comfortable in.  A summer where you can wear a tank top and feel great instead of wearing a tshirt to cover up arms that you hate.  A summer where you can walk with your head held high because you know you look fabulous and, even more importantly, you feel fabulous!

All of these things can happen - I promise you that - because they happened to me!  The key is that you have to be willing to jump in and make the change.  This can be scary, and you might try and talk yourself out of it (What if I fail?  What if I don't do well?  What if I can't afford it?  What if I don't have time?)  I asked myself all these same things, but the answer to them is simple - if you don't try, you'll never succeed.  It will be work, and there may be bad days.  That's okay.  I will be with you every step of the way - it is MY goal to see YOU succeed!

Together we can get you to the body you want - all you have to do is say you want it!

For more information and to apply for a spot in this group, please comment below with your contact information or email me directly at ashleykrek@gmail.com.  I can't wait to hear from you!

Also, please remember that I will personally be donating a portion of every challenge pack sold to cancer research this month - I'd call that a win-win!

3.12.2014

So long hair, see ya later!

This month, as I've mentioned before, is my official "Cancer Sucks" month.  I've seen a number of people around me be diagnosed with cancer and, quite frankly, I'm ready for it to back off!  I have complete faith that each of them will kick it's ass and I will be right there cheering them on.

I'm putting my money where my mouth is by donating a portion of every challenge pack sold this month to cancer research, but I also wanted to put my hair on the line!  A friend and fellow Beachbody Coach, Katy, is in the process of beating cancer, and she made the decision to not let cancer take her hair - she gave it willingly!

I joined many other coaches and friends in supporting Katy by chopping off my own hair.  If you feel compelled to join us, the hashtag is #kutsforkaty !!  And now, without any further ado - my hair transformation!

In the morning before my hair cut it was hitting around the bottom of my shoulder blades.  To be honest, it had been quite a while since I had a hair cut, so although I could curl it or straighten it to look alright, it was getting pretty frayed and stringy towards the end.  I had been thinking about getting it cut for a while and the #kutsforkaty campaign kicked me in the butt and got me to do it!

I went to the Level 7 Salon in Jordan, MN and loved it!  I have been there before but this was the first time I requested such a drastic change - and they were great!  I brought in several pictures I had saved on Pinterest and after talking for a bit, we decided to go with a pretty major hair cut and a big change in color.  In high school I was a super-blonde (see: white blonde) and in college I had gone pretty dark.  We opted for foils of highlights and violet brown with an all over chocolate brown color.  It's pretty intense but I like it!

I feel like a whole new lady!  My hair is lighter, easier to take care of and I think it makes me look more put together as well.  I'm very happy with the haircut, and I'm very happy to be dedicating this month to helping end both obesity AND cancer.

Same hair, different day!
This may not be a post about health and fitness, but it IS about fighting for a healthy life and taking control of our own lives.  If you have been struggling with dedication to a workout program or motivation to eat well, comment below!  I am here to coach you through the struggles and support you as you as you make the changes!

Mission: Closet Organization

As I mentioned yesterday, this past weekend Jake and I were very successful at tackling some weekend projects that have been hanging over our heads!  Some of them were things that we have to deal with every weekend: laundry, dishes, cleaning the house, etc.  But some of them were things that we don't normally do - projects that have been on the 'to-do' list.  Well, we finally got around to getting them done!

On Saturday Jake took care of taking down the curtains from our front room and washing them as I got my hair done.  One set of three curtains were washed and dried by the time I got home so we were able to work together to get them shortened, sewed and hung back up.  By the time we had finished those three, the last three were dried!  It may be a small change, but for me it really has lightened up the room and made it feel cleaner and brighter to me.  Sometimes it's the little things that make all the difference :)

Shorten Curtains
If you'd like a diy on this project, it's super simple!  We just took down the curtains, washed them, and measured from the top of the curtain rod to where we wanted them to end after we shortened them.  After the curtains were dry, we measured to where we wanted them to end and marked this on the back side of the curtain with a fabric pencil (just a small mark!) and then marked about 5 inches below that line.  We cut at the bottom mark, folded them up so the rough edge lined up with the top mark, and then folded a second time at the top mark  Pinned at the top of the fold over and sewed along that edge.  Ta da!  Done!
Along with that we cleaned the stove (actually, I'll admit, Jake cleaned the stove.  I had very little to do with this project).

Closet Organization

Sunday, though, was go time on a project I have been putting off for far too long. Jake and I had a very successful day of going through my clothes and I can say that it was actually a lot of fun!  My closet and drawers are full of clothes that are too big, and it was a great feeling to be able to throw them right in a bag and prep to give them away!

I have kept a pair of black pants that I was wearing when I started this weight loss journey - they are now multiple sizes too big and when I put them on Jake couldn't even believe that I had been wearing them!  He said they looked like Fat Albert's pants, which made me giggle.  (Though if had said that a year ago I would have likely broken down in tears.)  It's fun to see the difference a year can make!  I put those black pants right back in the bottom drawer so I can go back to them as I continue to lose weight and tone up.

One of the mini conversations Jake and I had while we were doing this made me smile and feel pretty darn proud of myself (and happy, of course, in my choice of husband!)  It went like this:

Jake: You have a lot of black shirts.
Me: Yeah I do.
Jake: They say black clothes are slimming. But you're already getting so slim so you don't need all these black clothes anymore.
Me: :)

                                                                 What a nice guy, huh?

Live your life on purpsoe

I love when you get weekends that are productive, relaxing and fun all at the same time!  A lot of times it seems like weekends go by in a blur and you either are able to relax a lot, have a lot of fun or get a lot of stuff done - but rarely do you accomplish all three!  I have been making a conscious effort to be more intentional in how I spend my time lately.  Too often I feel like I have let minutes, hours, even days go by without really doing much of anything!  A bit of intentional planning can go a long way!

Now that the to-do list is a bit shorter, I can start brainstorming some new items to add to it!  Because really, what are you doing if you're not trying to improve??

Were you able to accomplish a lot of things this weekend?  What's still on your to-do list?

Focus T25 Beta Cycle Week Three

Today I am SO beyond excited for a bunch of reasons!  These include:

1) We finally have a week's weather forecast that doesn't have any days with below freezing temperatures.  In Minnesota we call this a WIN!

2) Over the past couple weeks Jake and I have complete several projects that have been lingering on the to-do list.  After hanging a light fixture my dad made for us, recovering our dining room chairs, organizing my clothes and shortening the curtains in the living room I feel like I'm living in a brand-new house!  All of these were cheap and easy fixes but they have seriously made a huge difference for me.

3) Today marks the beginning of my fourth week in Focus T25 Beta Cycle.  I have successfully completed 8 weeks of Focus T25 and I absolutely love it.  I had been switching between programs for a while trying to find one that really fit with my schedule, and this is it!

T25 Women's Results

Finding 25 minutes a day for my workouts has been simple and I honestly look forward to them every day.  I am stronger than I've ever been and I love that I can see definition forming in my arms.  I've spent too many years covering my arms up because I didn't like the 'chicken cutlets' (as I called them) that seemed to live under my arm.  This summer my arms will see the sun!!

T25 Beta Schedule Week 3

I have never really worked out with weights before, but now that I have used them for a couple weeks with several Beta cycle workouts I am absolutely in love!  The days when we use the weights are easily my favorite days.  I'll be honest and say that I get a bit disappointed when I pop a disc in and it says "equipment needed: nada" - I want to use those weights!

Weight Lift Woman

This makes me even more excited to get started with another Beachbody program I have, Body Beast.  I ordered this a couple weeks ago and planned on starting with it after I went through T25.  I think I have changed my tune a bit, however.  My goals are to lose another 10-20 pounds and then focus on toning up after what will then be 70 pounds of weight loss!  I think T25 will be able to help me with the weight loss while Body Beast will be great for the toning.

After really analyzing my results and my goals for the next couple months, I actually think I am going to re-do T25 after I finish the next two weeks.  So I will switch back to Alpha, go through Beta again and then do the Gamma round.  After that, and with 14 weeks of really focusing in on my nutrition and meal planning I think I will be in a perfect place physically to jump into Body Beast.  For now I'm just not ready to be done with T25!

Woman's T25 Weight Loss

This past week I hit 193.8 pounds, which is the lowest I can remember being since high school (I graduated in 2005 so this is a LONG time ago!)  When I saw that number pop up on the scale I couldn't help but do a mini happy dance right then and there!

I am taking my weight loss one pound at a time, one day at a time.  This past year has been the most incredible journey and I am so excited to see where the next year takes me!  To think that I am less than 4 pounds away from being in the 180s in mind-blowing.

Have you tried Focus T25?  Have you thought about it?  If so, let me know!  I would love to tell you more about it, chat about your options and help you get started on the journey to hitting your goals!  The only way to get the results you want are to get started!  I'd love to help you!

Why Beachbody?

Today when I got home from work I did what I always do - check the mail.  It was an especially exciting day in the mailbox today; there was exactly one piece of paper in it.  This paper was an invitation to join  certain gym in the area.  It was addressed to "current resident" and after looking at it for a second I dropped it on the coffee table and forgot about it until I sat down after my workout (which I did at home - Focus T25 Beta cycle's Speed 2.0 to be exact!)

I am not bashing gyms - not at all!  I know that a lot of people frequent gyms and get incredible results - and that is awesome.  My whole goal in being a Beachbody coach is to help people get results and live healthier lives - if what you're doing works for you that's great!

Why, then, did I choose to put my health in the hands of Beachbody?  Why did I choose to be a challenger and now a coach for this company instead of all the others that are out there?  Of course there are options - countless options!  Why do I think Beachbody is the best option there is?

Beachbody Support

The system of support that Beachbody has created is unparalleled.  You don't have to go somewhere special to get support, attend meetings or even pay for a coach.  I am a coach 100% free of charge to my customers.  When I signed up with my coach I did so for free and I got incredible support, encouragement and help while I took a minute to figure out what I wanted to do and how I could best hit my goals.

I decided to join a challenge group because I liked the idea of being on the journey with other people.  My husband has never had to worry about losing a pound in his life, and if you could see his family you would understand where he gets it from!  He will likely never have to worry about this, and though he supported me on my weight loss, he couldn't truly understand the struggle.

In my challenge group I met several people who were all dealing with the same issues, the same struggles and the same setbacks.  We were there to encourage each other and we were able to help each other - we shared recipes, did happy dances when one of us hit a goal and helped each other get re-committed if anyone had a bad day.

After I graduated from that challenge group the support continued!  I still talk to these women almost a year later even though we have never actually met each other in person!  There are other Facebook groups I am actively involved in and I have met countless people through these, even though we live all around the world.

Surround Yourself with people who are only going to lift you higher

Beachbody and Beachbody challenge groups get you excited about health and fitness and they truly help you craft the body and lifestyle that you want!  I discovered a passion for health and fitness, and the support I have received from all over the Beachbody community has been incredible.

As a coach I not only get to run challenge groups, I get to witness my challengers supporting and helping each other out!  I am a part of The Dream Team, which is the number two team in all of Beachbody.  As coaches we not only help each other succeed in the business, we help each other in our own fitness transformations as well as with every day struggles that anyone deals with.

Although Beachbody is a health and fitness company, I am so grateful to have become a part of it for reasons that go well beyond health and fitness.  I feel more confident, more passionate and more excited about what's to come than I can remember feeling for a very long time.

Surround Yourself with the Dreamers and Doers

Although it is my journey, I have friends that I can connect with any time of day without leaving my house - I have people supporting me no matter if I do my workout at 1 am, 1 pm, 5 am or 5 pm!  I don't have to schedule my day around when a class or club is meeting, I can workout, coach my challengers and still do everything else I want to do during the day - on my schedule!

I realize that both of the images I included on this post start with "surround yourself".  This was an intentional decision on my part, because I truly feel that I am constantly surrounded by people who are encouraging, uplifting, helping and rooting for me.  Beachbody has introduced this group of people into my life and I am truly blessed and better for having them on the journey with me.

I have a number of other reasons why I have chosen Beachbody and why I am completely confident that I have chosen well - but I will save those for another day :)

If you want support in your journey, or just have questions about what Beachbody is all about, please don't hesitate to reach out to me!
